Dr. Neset Tan

Founder & Lead Developer

Dr. Neset Tan is an AI researcher, technologist, and founder dedicated to transforming how scientific knowledge is extracted, evaluated, and trusted. His work focuses on solving complex challenges using natural language processing, deep learning, and state-of-the-art AI techniques.

Neset has held leadership roles across both industry and academia, driving AI research and development initiatives. He has also collaborated with leading AI institutions, including the Allen Institute for AI, contributing to advancements in scientific knowledge understanding and trustworthy AI systems.

The foundations of SciTrue were laid during his PhD research, where he began developing natural language algorithms designed to prevent scientific misinformation and enable automated reasoning. Building on these early ideas, Neset founded SciTrue to create intelligent systems that make scientific knowledge transparent, verifiable, and accessible.

Minghao Li
Minghao Li

Full-Stack Developer

Minghao Li is a full-stack software developer and Master of Science student at the University of Auckland, specialising in trustworthy AI. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science, where he focused on applied machine learning, systems design, and software engineering.

With experience across front-end, back-end, and cloud infrastructure, Minghao has built and integrated end-to-end systems, developed scalable applications, and contributed to research-driven software projects. His technical strengths span full-stack development, API design, system optimisation, and AI-enabled systems.

At SciTrue, Minghao contributes to platform development and system reliability, helping translate advanced AI research into robust, production-grade tools.

Dr. Niket Tandon
Dr. Niket Tandon

Scientific Advisor

Dr. Niket Tandon is a Principal Research Scientist at Microsoft Research, focusing on customizing AI copilots with private data. He works on methods to inject guidance into language models and on grounding model responses.

Previously, he was a Lead Research Scientist at the Allen Institute for AI in Seattle until late 2024, specializing in feedback-guided reasoning in Large Language Models and on grounding and reasoning over scientific claims. His research has been recognized at various venues, and he contributes to the NLP research community through tutorials, workshops, panel discussions, and as an area chair for reviewing.

At SciTrue, Niket provides expert guidance on AI research and application, ensuring the platform’s systems are robust, scientifically grounded, and practically impactful.

Prof. Michael Witbrock

Scientific Advisor

Prof. Michael Witbrock, from University of Auckland, is an internationally recognized AI expert and Professor of Computer Science.

Before moving to New Zealand, he led AI research and development at leading universities and companies, including IBM, Cycorp, and Carnegie Mellon, shaping projects in automated reasoning, knowledge acquisition, and intelligent system design.

He has been appointed Chair of a government advisory panel on the adoption of artificial intelligence in public agencies, contributing his expertise to ensure the safe and responsible integration of AI in society.

At SciTrue, Prof. Witbrock provides strategic guidance on AI research and development, helping shape intelligent systems that make scientific knowledge more transparent, reliable, and accessible.

Prof. Mark Gahegan
Prof. Mark Gahegan

Scientific Advisor

Prof. Mark Gahegan is a leading expert in eScience and data-driven scientific discovery. He focuses on enhancing collaboration, reproducibility, and innovation across disciplines through advanced data science, machine learning, and knowledge representation. His work spans the design of scalable data systems, geospatial analytics, and visualization tools that enable researchers to extract meaningful insights from complex scientific data.

Before joining the University of Auckland, Prof. Gahegan held academic positions at the University of Leeds and The Pennsylvania State University, where he contributed extensively to research in computer science, machine learning, and the development of data-intensive scientific workflows.
